John Cena Would Love To Make A Sequel To Bumblebee

John Cena had a blast making Bumblebee, and director Travis Knight's film is earning praise from many fans as the best Transformers movie to date. So when CinemaBlend's own Dirk Libbey asked Cena if his Jack Burns would return for a sequel, the action star had this to say:

I hope so. I really enjoyed working with Travis, but I love the movie and it looks like it's going to make a lot of money too, so hopefully we'll be able to do it again.

The signs are looking pretty positive for a seventh film in the live-action Transformers film series. Bumblebee is a prequel to Transformers, and director Travis Knight has already revealed he has more ideas for Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld) and Bee, should Bumblebee 2 come to pass.

When asked what he'd like to see his character do in a sequel, John Cena kept it humble:

Oh, I'm not, I'm not selfish in that regard. The one thing I'd like to see is that it be just as good of a story. I think if I get too involved with what I'm doing rather than what the movie is doing, the movie suffers. I think as long as the movie reads as good as Bumblebee then we'll be off to a good start.

Without spoiling anything, his Agent Burns had a bit of a change of heart by the end of Bumblebee, and there's an opportunity to show more sides to the character.

Really, though, Bumblebee 2 might be the perfect opportunity to fulfill John Cena's dream of transforming into a John-a-Tron.

In terms of the response to the movie, Bumblebee was a hit with critics, and currently enjoys a very impressive 93 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It earned an A- CinemaScore from polled moviegoers, which has to make the cast proud. It just opened on December 21, but so far the film has made just shy of $200 million off its reported production budget of $135 million. The opening was on the low end for a Transformers movie, but Bumblebee also opened on fewer screens than the previous five films, as Box Office Mojo figures show.

John Cena is a pretty busy guy. He had a big 2018 at the movies, with Blockers and Bumblebee, and he's pitched himself to take over as Captain America, should Marvel be interested. The previous year, Cena had The Wall, Daddy's Home 2, and the voice of Ferdinand in that animated movie. He still lends his voice to Baron Draxum on Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and he's also meant to voice Yoshi the polar bear in Robert Downey Jr.'s 2020 film The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle.

But now we know John Cena is 100% down to make time for Bumblebee 2, if there's a place for him in the story. Sounds like Travis Knight knows what he wants, so we just have to stay tuned and see what happens from here. In the meantime, you can check out Bumblebee in theaters now, and here's the impressive lineup of upcoming 2019 movie releases.

Mindy Kaling And Riz Ahmed Want To Bring Ms. Marvel To The MCU

Mindy Kaling And Riz Ahmed Want To Bring Ms. Marvel To The MCU

About a week ago, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, who always plays his MCU cards close to the chest, created quite a stir when he revealed that Kamala Khan, a.k.a. Ms. Marvel, was definitely, sort of, in the works. Although his phrasing allowed for some flexibility, his words are encouraging for those hoping to see the Inhuman make her way to the MCU before long. It may be a ways off, but should Marvel move forward with Ms. Marvel, actors Riz Ahmed and Mindy Kaling have already thrown their hats into the ring to help bring the character to the MCU. Take a look:

Riz Ahmed must really like the character, as he is already proposing that he, along with other talented names like Mindy Kaling and Kumail Nanjiani, work on the screenplay for the potential film. And while this is just a hypothetical at this point, a Ms. Marvel movie would certainly be lucky to have these three working on the screenplay. Kumail Nanjiani is an Oscar-nominated screenwriter for his film The Big Sick, and Mindy Kaling has a lot of writing experience on The Office and The Mindy Project. Kamala Khan is a fun and youthful character that these three would be well suited to bringing to life. Mindy Kaling seems up for it too, as she is a huge fan of the character.

With Marvel increasing the diversity of its offerings both in front of and behind the camera, it would makes sense to have these three take a crack at Ms. Marvel. While a writer doesn't have to share the same race, ethnicity or religion as a character to do them justice, there is a certain level of understanding that those that do can impart. Kamala Khan is a Pakistani-American and a Muslim, and those parts of her identity are part of her story. Both Kumail Nanjiani and Riz Ahmed are of Pakistani descent, and Riz Ahmed is a Muslim, so they can bring that experience to the character and have it speak to an audience that isn't used to this sort of portrayal on screen.

Ms. Marvel is probably quite a ways off at this point, but the enthusiasm around Kevin Feige's comments certainly has to have perked up the ears of those at Marvel Studios. And while Mindy Kaling and Riz Ahmed have already offered to write the film, it is never to early to start fan casting. Artist BossLogic did just that on Twitter. Check it out below:

BossLogic is offering up Linnea Berthelsen as a potential Kamala Khan, and that's certainly a solid choice. The actress was previously seen playing the superpowered Kali/Eight on Stranger Things. My guess is that this fan casting and chatter will only get louder in the years to come. But you can't have Kamala Khan without Carol Danvers, and she'll be introduced to the MCU when Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8, 2019. Keep an eye on our Marvel Cinematic Universe page for all the latest on what lies ahead in the MCU.

The Hardest Scene Marvels Propmaster Has Ever Worked On Involved Robert Downey Jr.

The Hardest Scene Marvels Propmaster Has Ever Worked On Involved Robert Downey Jr.

Imagine being able to say on your resume that you helped create Captain America's iconic vibranium shield and helped forge Thor's hammer Mjolnir. Russell Bobbitt doesn't have to imagine it, because as Prop Master and Head of Props at Marvel, he's done exactly that. Among other things, the property master has been involved in crafting some of the MCU's most recognizable weapons. But among the guns, gauntlets, weapons of vibranium and uru, the hardest scene Russell Bobbitt ever worked on actually took place at the beginning of the MCU in Iron Man, as he explained:

The most challenging scene that I've worked on is the cave scene in Iron Man 1, where Robert Downey Jr. had to create his first arc reactor. And so I taught him how wiring works. He soldered and we have these extreme close up shots and it really defined Iron Man in that moment.

You would think that as the MCU has grown more expansive and grander in scope that the more recent movies would have provided greater challenges, so to hear that it was actually the first Iron Man movie is interesting. Russell Bobbitt's explanation on IMDb's Walk of Flame makes sense though. Unlike a medium shot of a shield or a hammer, when Tony Stark is building his arc reactor in the cave scene, there is an extreme close up shot of him soldering the wiring. It's harder to fake it with an extreme close up where the camera can see every detail. So Robert Downey Jr. needed to be taught how wiring works so that he could perform that scene and come off believably. More than just creating a prop here, Russell Bobbitt had to teach Robert Downey Jr. and, in a way, help the actor become Tony Stark.

It is just a quick shot, but this little detail actually does tells us a lot about Tony Stark. We are meeting him for the first time in Iron Man and are learning about him as he learns about himself and who he needs to become. Watching him build the arc reactor and the suit inside that cave, we find out that while he may come off as a fast-talking playboy businessman, Tony Stark is very much a mechanical genius who MacGyver could learn a thing or two from. From the cave scene on, we know that Tony Stark's greatest weapon, and the one that winds up getting him in a fair bit of trouble, is his mind.

It's also worth saying what a cool job Russell Bobbitt has getting to oversee the creation of all kinds of fun props and gadgets for the MCU. He's like Q in James Bond, Lucius Fox in Batman and indeed Tony Stark (or Shuri) in the MCU. In addition to the more geeky properties he has worked on, he's also been property master on The Hangover, cult classic Hocus Pocus and '90s teen comedy Can't Hardly Wait, among many other films.

Keep an eye on our guide for everything about the Marvel Cinematic Universe and for all the latest in jobs you wish you had, stay tuned to CinemaBlend.
