What Mark Hamill Thought About Solo: A Star Wars Story

It's an exciting time to be a Star Wars fan. With Disney now in charge of the beloved property, plenty of new content is coming out of the galaxy far, far away. While the fandom may be still recovering from Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the franchise's next standalone movie is right around the corner. Solo: A Star Wars Story arrives in a few weeks, helping to expand the history of characters like Han Solo, Lando Calrissian, and Chewbacca. Franchise hero Mark Hamill recently saw the film's premiere, and shared his cryptic thoughts via social media.

It looks like Luke Skywalker himself has given his thumbs up. While he kept the details under wraps regarding Solo: A Star Wars Story's contents, it's nice to know that the acclaimed actor/voice actor was happy with the newest standalone film. The pressure is on to deliver another narrative for the franchise's most favorite character, and OG contributors like Mark Hamill's praise carries plenty of weight.

Mark Hamill's Tweet indicates he'll be watching Solo: A Star Wars Story more than once. As such, one has to wonder if director Ron Howard littered the standalone movie with easter eggs and references to the original trilogy? The setting is years before A New Hope, when the Galactic Empire is at the height of its power. As such, there's the potential to bring in a variety of characters and settings from George Lucas' first three films. If Hamill is boasting Solo's rewatchability, maybe there's so much exciting stuff crammed into the standalone film that it warrants another few rounds.

Solo is already set to provide Star Wars fans with much more background about some of the original heroes. Ron Howard's blockbuster will reveal how a younger Han, Lando, and Chewie first became acquainted, complete with Han acquiring the iconic Millennium Falcon. It's also been strongly hinted that the movie would include the famous Kessel Run, which Han cites when he meets Obi-Wan and Luke in A New Hope. Some rumors also indicate that Boba Fett might also make an appearance, which would be a majorly exciting moment for the hardcore fandom.

Overall, the early reception for Solo indicates that movie is a fun ride, albeit not exactly groundbreaking. Considering how high the stakes were for The Last Jedi, it'll be nice to see a Star Wars movie that is a little easier to digest. Mark Hamill's hashtag indicates that he was riding a high after seeing the standalone film, which is high praise. The legendary actor was no doubt able to sit back and enjoy Solo as an audience member; a stark juxtaposition to the pressure around his performance in The Last Jedi.
