Who Jon Favreau Is Playing In Solo: A Star Wars Story
The modern era of Star Wars movies has embraced cameos in a way that rivals almost any other franchise in existence. From The Force Awakens to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to The Last Jedi, every film features a handful of great (albeit subtle) appearances by Hollywood heavy-hitters. In that regard, Solo: A Star Wars Story is no different, as it recently came to light that Iron Man director Jon Favreau would appear in the film as an "important" alien creature. Now, the filmmaker has taken to social media to reveal his character as that bizarre little turret gunner from the film's recent trailer. Check out his tweet, below.
That post doesn't officially say "Hey, I am playing this character," but the posting of the picture seems to line up with the recent announcement that Jon Favreau would show up in Solo: A Star Wars Story. We don't know the name of that alien yet, but he appears to be a member of the crew assembled by Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson) to pull off the film's central job -- which, at this point, many fans assume to be a heist of some sort.
This Twitter reveal of Jon Favreau's character in Solo: A Star Wars Story shouldn't surprise longtime fans of the director's work. Although he has a long history of working on small-scale indies like Swingers and Chef, he has also made a name for himself as one of Disney's go-to filmmakers over the course of his last decade. His credits include Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and The Jungle Book, and he is currently working on the upcoming live-action remake of The Lion King -- which will debut in theaters next year. Beyond that, he has also appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Happy Hogan, the loyal bodyguard of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). Favreau is a Disney movie mainstay at this point, so his inclusion in Solo makes plenty of sense.
