The New Dinosaurs Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Will Introduce
Sequels, by design, up the ante and increase what audiences like about the films that came before it. There's a legendary story about James Cameron pitching a sequel to Ridley Scott's Alien by simply writing the title on a whiteboard and adding an "s" to the end of it. You like Alien? You'll love Aliens. The same seems to hold true for the upcoming Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, as director J.A. Bayona is promising fans more dinosaurs in the sequel, many of which fans have never seen before. The director, a newcomer to the series, sets the stage for his dino-action by saying:
This is, without a doubt, the Jurassic movie with more dinosaurs than any of the others. We have all the dinosaurs from the first film and we've added new ones that I think fans will deeply appreciate such as the Carnotaurus, Baryonyx, Sinoceratops and the Allosaurus. One the kids will probably remember is the Stygimolich, who is very fun and gives us some comedic moments. And I'm especially fond of a new hybrid dinosaur that we have designed: The Indoraptor.
Now that tickets for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom are on sale, director J.A. Bayona opened up to Fandango about his creative process, and what fans might expect from the fifth movie in the ongoing series. And he name dropped a number of beasts who likely will get amateur paleontologists interested in the summer blockbuster.
The one that jumps out to us, though, is the Indoraptor, which has been the focal point of the marketing efforts behind Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. This seems to be the terrifying dinosaur creation on which the studio has the most faith, as they have leaned heavily into the sight of this hybrid threat stalking a little girl in her bedroom, or facing off against Chris Pratt and his boy, Blue.
Bayona, elaborating on the impact of the Indoraptor, went on to say:
I think the audience is going to enjoy the Indoraptor. It's a terrifying creature involved in some of the best parts of the movie. I think we all remember some of the terrifying scenes we saw when watching Steven Spielberg's first Jurassic Park film, and the Indoraptor will take the audience to very similar, high tension moments.

In Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) find their way back to the abandoned island on a rescue mission to retrieve Blue. While there, though, they stumble into a sinister plot that involves a corporation weaponizing hybrid dinosaurs, then selling them to the highest bidders in what's sure to be a disastrous plot.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom opens in theaters on June 22, and will set the stage for a third chapter in this revived saga, that one directed by Colin Trevorrow. Are you excited to see what J.A. Bayona has in store for audiences when this chapter hits screens?
